I have been through it all, the restricted diets, the over exercising, the confusion of what’s “right vs. wrong” in the world of nutrition. So, in 2018 I took it upon myself to become a nutrition coach so I could help people who were also struggling with nutritional and wellness structure. Going through a few nutrition coaching certifications, I had a few different goals in mind. The first goal was to help people lose weight and regain their self confidence while still consuming the foods they love. The second goal was to help athletes fuel themselves properly as well as eat to gain muscle mass. Having an athletic background myself, I wish I knew then what I know now about the power of eating to recover and perform optimally. I want to teach people how to navigate through their own nutritional needs; a coach won’t always be there so if I can educate my clients to attack any health and wellness goal on their own, I have done my job. I love working with my clients to help them achieve their goals through evidence-based practices along with building a better relationship with food!

It's amazing to see what the body is capable of through discipline. There are so many ways people demonstrate this. Whether that is through running a marathon, gymnastic movements, swimming at dolphin-like speeds, or so many other ways people have trained their bodies to become incredible machines. What I love about this field is that no matter what your goal is, a well balanced diet and exercise positively impacts ALL aspects of life. The reason I wanted to start Kôr was because I was tired of extremely restrictive, or elimination style diets that lead to short term results. I've been through it too and this is a big reason why I pursued a Bachelors in Biokinetics at Bethel University. When I first started in the gym, I was always asking one of the trainers what the best supplements were. Now I am at a point where I want to help others sort through the noise society blasts around diet trends and results. The truth is, small changes to your Kôr foundation will lead to the change you want.

Over a decade ago, my interest in the nutrition field birthed because of my love for food and how it had a beautiful way of healing and bringing people together; and I also had a deep desire to help people. Fast forward to today, the same still holds true! Food is powerful- both for good, or for harm. Well-rounded nutrition, coupled with a healthy lifestyle (ie: regular movement, managing sleep and stress, fostering healthy relationships, etc.), can radically transform lives, and further, improve health outcomes. Throughout my years practicing as an RD, from healthcare to private practice, I’ve come to the realization that nutrition is not a “one size fits all” approach, because each person has a unique set of genetics, biochemistry, and individual environments that make up who they are. I’ve had the privilege of working with hundreds of different coaching clients, using nutrition therapy to promote weight loss, boost energy levels, restore gut health, aid in pregnancy and postpartum support, and improve conditions such as (but not limited to) food sensitivities and allergies, hormone imbalances, skin issues, blood sugar dysregulation/insulin resistance, and more. The world of nutrition is more confusing than ever right now due to the enormous influence of the Internet and social media; so I’ve made it my mission to dispel nutrition myths, provide evidenced-based nutrition knowledge and information, and commit to always being a continual “learner” in the nutrition field.

I grew up in New Orleans – a city known for its incredible cuisine. As a kid, my family and I LOVED to eat – and still do! But my initial interest in nutrition actually began as a way to stop a pattern. You see, my mother was obese, and her weight massively affected her energy and quality of life. It was hard to watch her lose her ability to walk, experience pain, and spontaneously fall asleep because she had no energy. She was no longer the lively, passionate woman I once knew. As an attempt to be an example of what health looked like, I swung to the other extreme, losing my health through losing too much weight, not eating enough, exercising obsessively and developing a horrible relationship with food and my own body. Fast forward to today, where my mom has lost over 150 lbs and I gained 20 lbs… we both got our health, energy, and quality of life back. Because of my own personal experience (and 10 years of studying) I have such a deep passion for helping others find true balance and sustainability to promote their long-term health. I don’t believe in fads, quick fixes, or unnecessary restrictions. I believe vitality is the most important outcome that you gain when you finally decide to take ownership of your health – whether you are adjusting your habits, working on your relationship with food, understanding emotional eating triggers or discovering your favorite method of movement. I work with all types of clients – from fat loss to muscle gain to performance improvement athletes, and I make sure they are supported through evidence-based protocols as well as mental and emotional roadblocks along the way. I love watching my clients reach their goals while falling in love with a lifestyle that is sustainable for them!

I have always had an interest in nutrition – in how it could fuel our bodies, as well as, how it could bring people together. I have had the privilege of working with individuals looking to enhance their athletic performance, those looking for support in weight management, those struggling with metabolic diseases, and those who struggle with eating disorders. I also spent 2 years as an adjunct professor at Bethel University for nutrition. I love sharing knowledge so that my clients are empowered to understand nutrition and how it can support them in achieving their goals while still enjoying life.
